Beyond Light and Bright: Patricia Borja on Palm Beach's Next Design Chapter

A Shift Toward Something Deeper
For years, Palm Beach interiors have been defined by one look: light, bright, and airy. It's a beautiful starting point — but it's not the only story this coastline has to tell. As Patricia puts it, “Palm Beach design is moving beyond the traditional light and bright look into something more layered and nuanced.”
That shift shows up in the studio's recent work as deeper tones, richer materials, and palettes built in layers rather than a single wash of color. “I wanted to create spaces that feel more personal and intimate,” Patricia explains. “Moving toward deeper tones and layered palettes felt like a natural shift, adding dimension and making rooms feel more collected and grounded.”
Building a Story, One Layer at a Time
Ask Patricia how a room comes together, and she'll tell you it rarely starts with a color palette. It starts with one strong element — an architectural detail, a piece of furniture, a material — that gives the space its point of view. Everything else is built to support it, never compete with it.
“I think of it as building a story within the space,” she says. “It's all about balance and making everything feel connected.” The result is a home that feels curated without feeling staged — a distinction Patricia is careful to draw.
